Inspect, test and repair fire and smoke control features of mechanical services systems (UEERA0098)
This nationally accredited unit equips participants with best-practice knowledge and skills to inspect, test and repair all safety measures relating to fire and smoke control features of mechanical services systems. This includes fire, smoke, and air dampers, exit pressurisation systems, and connected mechanical systems and equipment required to shut down as part of the fire and smoke management system.
Learning outcomes
Successful participants will have competently demonstrated an ability to undertake the following, with all work complying with relevant legislation, regulation, and industry standards:

Conduct critical testing of a) air handling changeover under fire/smoke conditions, b) fire isolated stairwells and escape routes protected by air-pressurisation systems, and c) mechanical services required to shut down under fire/smoke conditions
Certificate awarded
Upon successful completion of all assessment requirements, students receive a Statement of Attainment.

Learner background and eligibility
This program is tailored to technicians already employed in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector. To be registered in this course, participants will be currently working in accordance with their organisation’s workplace policies and procedures to conduct inspections, testing, and reporting that meets Australian standards and codes.
This unit has the following prerequisites:
- UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes, and practices in the workplace
- UEERA0051 Install, commission, service, and maintain air conditioning systems.
AMCA has established a credit transfer approach for these prerequisites so that anyone that holds one or both of the below will be eligible to undertake UEERA0098:
- A Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning trade qualification or equivalent, OR
- A full Refrigerant Handling Licence (RAC01) issued by the Australian Refrigeration Council.
Delivery and assessment
- Self-paced pre-reading and online knowledge assessment (to be completed prior to booking the practical assessment)
- 2-hour practical simulated workplace assessment using AMCA’s purpose-built training pods
- Students can elect to undertake their practical assessment in NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, or WA

Refund and cancellation policy
- A full refund will be given if AMCA is notified a minimum of 10 business days prior to the course commencement date. Notification must be in writing using the refund request form.
- If you wish to transfer from the enrolled course or any practical observation assessments, a 48-hour written notice is required. Failure to notify AMCA Australia may result in a rebooking fee calculated at 50% of the course cost.
- Participant substitutions will be considered if they fit the course criteria, and AMCA is notified in writing.
- AMCA reserves the right to cancel, postpone or reschedule due to insufficient registrations or other reasons beyond their control.
