Rapid changes in technology and computing power improve nearly every part of our lives from access and communication of information to how we view the world around us. 3D Reality Capture is the latest technology improving understanding and documentation of the built environment and has become an integral part of informing the construction design process. Using ultra-accurate laser scanning combined with high-definition imagery, whole environments are captured quickly and in detail to create a digital 3D environment that can be explored, measured and annotated, for a fuller understanding of the building.
As technology has become smaller, more affordable and more automated, 3D Reality Capture has become increasingly accessible and adopted by progressive organisations. The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association (AMCA) is proud to host Matt Rumbelow from C.R. Kennedy at the upcoming Construction Innovation Forum to give an informative workshop on the latest Leica Geosystems technology and their practical application. Matt will demonstrate how this technology automates many of the more complex functions of scan capture and manipulation, and how simple one-touch software operation puts this technology in the hands of novice users who can be trained in minutes.
Matt will provide practical examples of how the technology can improve efficiency and productivity in the office and on-site. For example, Building Information Modelling (BIM) managers can quickly capture construction stages at the touch of a button, allowing comparison to design-intent for quality assurance. MEP consultants can record the positioning of pipework and electrical systems prior to being clad for future maintenance and adaption.
Matt will demonstrate the world’s fastest construction scanner, the BLK3D measurement device, new layout software, and more. This will enable delegates to experience how the latest devices can deliver opportunities to manage project complexities with 3D representations for better planning, real time visualisation, and improved situational awareness.
Through his work with global BIM leaders such a Lecia, Autodesk, Trimble, and Solibri, Matt is uniquely placed to identify benefits and develop strategies that leverages the potential of BIM technologies across different industries. Combined with his current role as Technical Sales Consultant for C.R. Kennedy, Matt has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that BIM can bring in practice.
This workshop will complement the keynote presentations and demonstrates the latest technological innovations in construction. Bringing together the world’s leading thought practitioners will provide global insight into the ways leading building and construction firms are utilising the latest technologies to change the way they work for the better.
