BuildingSP: Automation of MEP design and clash detection

Hosted by the Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association (AMCA), the 2018 forum will once again bring together thought leaders and practitioners from across the world to provide insight into how leading firms are utilising technological advancements to deliver innovative best practice solutions in the building and construction industry. We are particularly excited by the highly diverse and wide-ranging background of this year’s agenda. Included in the agenda is Brett Young. Brett is the CEO and Founder of BuildingSP, a software development company that is at the forefront of design automation for MEP systems.  BuildingSP’s products use algorithms and advanced computing to perform autorouting and interactive, real-time clash detection directly within the Autodesk Revit environment. 

This includes the use of generative design and machine learning in BIM workflows.  This is the second start-up for Brett, having previously founded Modulus Consulting, a BIM consulting firm with multimillion dollar annual revenues. He has a background in the management of large, commercial construction projects from nine years of work at Cahill Contractors, a San Francisco building general contractor. Brett is a graduate in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
