This two-day course covers the safety and legal requirements relating to the repair and maintenance of HVAC systems containing carbon dioxide.


It is part of the Master of Refrigeration Program designed jointly by the AMCA and Box Hill Institute, and is delivered at the Refrigeration and Climate Control Centre of Excellence (RCCC).

Who should attend?

The Master of Refrigeration Program is targeted at post-trade Refrigeration and Air-Conditioniong technicians working in the commercial heating, venitlation and air conditioning industry. Learners are best equipped to achieve the course outcomes if they have minimum language, literacy and numeracy skills that are equivalent to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework. It is expected that learners have trade level qualifications or an equivalent level of experience in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry.

At the conclusion of the two-day course, attendees will have completed nationally accredited units that will ensure they have a comprehensive understanding of the different types of systems, activities and responsibilities required by relevant standards, regulations and building codes.

These unit cover specialised procedures for servicing and repair that aim to promote the safe, effective and efficient operation of refrigeration equipment containing carbon dioxide (excluding self contained systems). This course reinforces safe working practice, as well as the specialised knowledge and application of refrigeration principles that apply to carbon dioxide. Attendees will learn how to follow service manuals, testing, locating and rectifying faults and defective components and completing the necessary service documentation.

Cancellation Policy

The AMCA reserve the right to cancel, postpone or reschedule events and training courses due to insufficient interest or other reasons beyond our control. In the instance that events or training courses are cancelled, a full refund will be given.

Refund Policy

A full refund will be given if the AMCA is notified in writing a minimum of 4 business days prior to the course commencement date. A 50% administration charge will be incurred if the AMCA is notified within 3 business days or less. No refund will be given if the AMCA is not notified of cancellation.
